2011 Brisbane Organic Grower Inc Fair

BlackEarth Products will be attending 2011 Brisbane Organic Grower Inc Fair, the BOGI Fair runs from 9am, Sunday the 2nd of October at The Peace Hall, 102 McDonald Road, Windsor, Brisbane.

BlackEarth Products will have plenty of Biochar & BiocharMAX in stock, plus a few 200 litre drums Biochar.  The stall will be run by BlackEarth Products Director Barry Batchelor. He will be able to answer any questions you may have with regards to Biochar and it’s application.

Far North Queensland Pawpaw Biochar Trial

September 12th, 2011

Black Earth Products Biochar hand applied over a two hectare section a far North Queensland pawpaw plantation before it was lightly incorporated into the soil. Application rate of 10 ton per hectare of the growing mounds. The grower noted “it was good product to work with as there was no dust and nothing blew away in the wind that constantly blows in the area.”

I hope to add follow up photos documenting the sites progress.

Biochar Researchers Network Meeting

The Australian and New Zealand Biochar Researchers Network (ANZBRN) will be holding a Victorian Regional Meeting in Melbourne on the 29th-30th September 2011. The meeting is being hosted by Melbourne University and will be held at the Parkville campus. Keep an eye on ANZBRN website for more details.

Gympie Permaculture talk

Barry Batchelor, Director of BlackEarth Products will talk on the topic of Biochar production and use in his Permaculture garden. Wednesday 10th August at 630pm, Centreplace, Lawrence Street, Gympie.

Biochar investigated for increasing soil biota

School of Earth and Environment Researcher Noraini MD Jaafar says the study aims to determine the role of biochar in soil as a habitat for soil organisms and the effect of biochar on growth and functioning of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and other microbial activities.

Qld Garden Expo 2011

What a crazy three days, so many people now know all about Biochar, had to educate many people on the differences between charcoal and Black Earth Biochar.

My good mate Costa Georgiadis dropped by to say gidday and have a play in the 44 gallon drum of Biochar.
